How important should each pillar be?

Yellow shows increasing importance. Rankings use every answer: Essential = 5, Very important = 4, Important = 3, Nice to have = 2, Not important = 1. Average scores out of 5 make the ranking fair if answer counts differ; total points are shown too. Equal averages share a rank.

What young ownership should look like

Young people describe ownership through equal votes, elected boards and members shaping projects and priorities. Suggestions include open nominations, accessible meetings and ways to hold board members accountable. One answer says success should be measured in young people's confidence, skills and experience, rather than money alone.

There are different views on how membership should work. Some favour free entry or low fees; others suggest concessions, donations or charging for optional activities. Some want youth-only voting, while others see a role for adult guidance. Open participation and checks on commitment both appear in the answers.

What ‘built by all of us’ means to young people

Many read the motto as a promise of belonging: somewhere that feels like home, welcomes different people and has a place for everyone. Shared responsibility comes through too, with young people designing programmes, shaping their surroundings and building something together.

For others, the wording is unclear or feels awkward. Some are unfamiliar with the phrase or mention a ‘cringe factor’. A few interpret ‘end’ as a finish line or death rather than a neighbourhood. The idea of belonging appeals to many, but those answers show where the wording could be clearer.

Other priorities young people suggested

The written alternative priority is ‘Safety of London’. This respondent wants safety considered alongside the listed priorities.

They do not name a particular location or action. The answer leaves room to ask what would help them feel safer.

Alternative endings in their words

Suggestions include ‘Theres an endz for everyone’ and ‘There's an end for every one of us, how do you want to help shape it?’ Both keep the idea of a place or future for everyone, with the second inviting people to help shape it.

Another respondent wants ‘endz’ removed because it feels ‘too much and overwhelming’. The fourth suggestion, ‘Endz is amazing.’, is a short endorsement. These answers favour different wording rather than one shared alternative.

One thing Endz must get right by 2029

Young people want ENDZ to turn listening into action: give them real power, respond to feedback, support their ideas and be open about resources. Practical expectations include accessible work experience, fair earning opportunities, leadership skills and connections with businesses.

They also want ENDZ to tackle loneliness through free or affordable spaces, stronger friendships, creative activities and accessible mental health support. Events should not revolve around drinking. Safety, welcoming different needs and viewpoints, and reaching people through better publicity also feature.

Big ideas for Endz to explore

Ideas for ENDZ include paid placements, career clinics, job matching, support to start a business and small grants for youth projects. Shared workspaces, equipment loans, skill swaps and adult-life workshops would give people practical ways to build experience. One suggestion is for people helped by ENDZ to use their new skills to help others.

Other ideas include affordable motorsport and theatre, community gardens, paid clean-ups, mobile activity vans and pop-up wellbeing support. A debate club would help people practise disagreeing without aggression. Another proposal brings school-leavers together around making friends, finding work and learning life skills.
